November in America

I started photographing politics when Valery Giscard D'estaing came to my home town in 1974, campaigning before becoming President. I was 15 then, but my interest in politics has started before. Not coincidentally, the opportunities kept coming. After moving to the U.S.A. in 1993, it was only natural for me to keep my eyes opened for political material. Then the war in Iraq became a lightning rod and subsequently the intensity of the Obama era.

This is how this series came to be, a collection of photographs which illustrate a slice of American politics, with some success since one of them was presented to the White House by the French Ambassador, and another one is at the Vatican. The entire series on Barack Obama's 2009 inauguration may be seen here. My entire collection of my photographs touching on American Politics is titled Life on Mars and obviously has its now page.
